Camp Knives - The hunt starts in camp. You can't control
the weather, you can't predict the game, all the time. But you can
control the camp life. Back in the 90's , I was fortunate enough to
attend Colorado Outdoor adventure school (formerly Pikes Peak
Outfitter Guide school) and completed there cerlucrium. The Master
Guide/Instructor brought the experience of one of Montana's largest
Outfitters. There operations in the Bob Marshal Wilderness Area only
produced a 20% success rate with hunters bagging there Elk. But had an
amazing 80% return hunter rate! The point was well taken, THE HUNT
STARTS IN THE CAMP!
Having a 'Can-Do' knife in camp is were the camp
starts
Camp Knife shape - Spike camp knives will have
differnt jobs then Base camp knives. Basicaly a good camp knife should
have a little more 'Perch-Belly' and handle and gaurd set back a
little more to cut off a board preparing meals. Thinner blades slice
onions and carve roast better then there brother the Hunter. We forge
knives one at a time, there are no design restristions when steel is
being formed on an anvel, let us know what you need, show us your
ideas, we'll bang one out!
